To acknowledge her outstanding contribution to classical theatre in America, Actress Laura Linney will be awarded the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s prestigious William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award) at the Harman Center for the Arts 10th Anniversary Gala on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Sidney Harman Hall.

The National Building Museum’s installation of Hive unknowingly formed a portal to a previously unknown world--CATENARIA! The Museum sent dog & pony dc, their Creative-in-Residence theatre company, into the portal across space and time and to return to tell you all about their visit. Theater Alliance presents THE PUNCH! - An Evening of Six New 10-Minute Plays on Tues, June 20 at 8pm. They asked DC playwrights to submit a new, 10-minute play about women throwing all the punches and the evening featuring plays by John Bavoso, Patrick Flynn, Farah Lawal Harris, Sam Mauceri, Stephen Spotswood and Brittany Willis. Presented as part of The Hothouse New Play Development Series and in conversation with Still Life with Rocket, currently onstage at the Anacostia Playhouse.

Caroline Bowman (Broadway's Wicked and Kinky Boots, a 2016 Helen Hayes Award nominee for the Kennedy Center's Evita, next appearing at Toby's Dinner Theatre in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat thru June 23) and Austin Colby (Signature's West Side Story, and The Sound of Music National Tour currently playing at the Kennedy Center) celebrate a premarital cabaret. The Washington, D.C. Favorites return home to plan their wedding and sing some love songs on stage with Monumental Theatre Company. The evening will also include silent auctions, raffles, refreshments, and a chance to learn about what Monumental has in store for the summer. Silent Auction begins at 7:30pm and the show at 8pm.

Sharpen those swords and spend some time learning stage combat in a way only Rorschach Theatre can deliver in Fight Camp July 8-29, co-sponsored with Theatre Lab. Taught by Rorschach Theatre company member Casey Kaleba, these classes will introduce participants to stage combat in the style used in the September production of Neil Gaiman's NEVERWHERE. For performers and students with no experience, these classes will offer an excellent introduction to stage combat theory and practice. For those already familiar, it's a chance to refresh skills and pick up some new tricks. All classes will teach through choreography, with an emphasis on stage application.
